Potter Creighton South and Main Project – October 2024 Update

22 October 2024

The Potter Creighton South and Main Project is progressing as we work to enhance road infrastructure, improve traffic flow, and increase safety in the area. This project involves multiple stakeholders, including the county, township, and a developer, all contributing to different aspects of the work.

Currently, the goal is to complete the bulk of the work on Main St by the end of 2024. Due to the complexity of the site, which includes a fire hall, elementary and high schools, a school crossing, and a convenience store, managing traffic flow has been challenging. The project requires maintaining two lanes of traffic overnight and alternating single lanes during the day, resulting in periodic traffic backups. We encourage residents to plan for additional travel time in the area or consider alternate routes where possible.

The project includes several important upgrades. The county is resurfacing the road as it has ended its service life. The developer is constructing turning lanes to improve access to Potter Drive and the schools while the Township is installing new water and sewer lines.

Additionally, a new multi-use path for active transportation is being constructed on the project site's south side, improving pedestrian and cyclist safety. Once completed, the project will also feature a newly improved pedestrian crossing with lighted signals near the school, further enhancing safety for students and other pedestrians.
