The Limestone District School Board is preparing for site improvements at Ernestown Intermediate & Secondary School and Odessa Public School, dependent on receiving site plan approval. As part of the changes, the current entrance to EISS from Main Street is being moved eastward, and in its new location will align with Potter Drive. The upgrades will improve safety for pedestrians, passenger vehicles, and school buses in the busy school area.

Advance collaboration between the School Board, the County of Lennox and Addington, and the Township meant we took the new alignment into consideration in our design for the Main Street construction that took place in 2024 between Creighton Drive and West Street. The new curbs on the north side of Main Street have a depressed curb in front of the planned entrance location.

A semi-mountable curb has been installed along the existing entrance, which makes the entrance into that location bumpier than before construction. By design, this allows vehicles to keep using the entrance until the site improvements, without the need to pour a new curb after the new entrance is in place. Once the new entrance is in place, it will be smooth driving once more.
