About the Project

Loyalist Township will be re-paving parts of Stella 40-Foot Road & Front Road, as well as the construction of new, and replacement of existing sections of sidewalk in the Village of Stella. Further, drainage improvements to the Village of Stella are planned. This project will be under public consultation in 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027, pending budget approval.

The proposed scope of the work includes:

  • Installation of sidewalks from the Amherst Island Ferry Docks into the Village of Stella creating a safe pedestrian corridor to and from the docks.
  • Reconstruction of the road & sidewalks in the Village of Stella from Neilson Store to Amherst Island Public School to meet current accessibility standards.
  • Drainage upgrades in the project area to improve the management of stormwater runoff.
  • Finally, the project will implement traffic-calming measures at the intersection of Stella 40-Foot Road and Front Road in the Village
